Ordinarily, we'd run a mile from most cover versions, but especially Adele ones. Exceptions have to be made from time to time, though, and of all the bands we'll break our embargo for, pop trio Wet are top of the list. The New York heartthrobs have actually made the rather nice move of interpreting Adele Adkins' 2008 belt-it-out classic, 'Chasing Pavements', instead of a more cynically-timed rework of current showstopper, 'Hello'. Okay, so it may still be a little bandwagon-y, but when Adele has already pretty much shifted the pop conversation to orbit entirely around her in recent weeks, who can blame Wet for wanting to show their appreciation. In fact, they've given 'Chasing Pavements' a new lease of life, with meandering beats and gently distorted synths nudging Kelly Zutrau's gossamery vocals onwards throughout. Lovely stuff. - DC
